The well-known avant-garde fashion brand threeASFOUR recently won the Fashion Design Award from the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. And this award is mainly for the brand's recent launch of the stunning Spring/Summer 2016 collection. It is worth noting that the 3D printing elements are used in the series.
It is understood that this New York fashion brand was founded in 2005, and its three founders Gabi Asfour, Angela Donhauser and Adi Gil once served the brand AsFour 1998. The three designers are from Lebanon, Tajikistan and Israel. They are constantly marveling at the fashion world with their bold and provocative designs. Their design themes often involve issues of human coexistence and cooperation. Moreover, threeASFOUR has also worked with a number of other prominent figures in the field, including Icelandic musicians Bjork, Yoko Ono and American artist Matthew Barney. Its apparel design is also housed in several of the world's most prestigious museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Palais Galliera in Paris.
Therefore, as one of the most innovative fashion brands of the moment, it is not surprising that threeASFOUR used 3D printing technology for their design, and this is not the first time they have been designed with the help of additive manufacturing . At the 2013 New York Fashion Week, they launched two 3D printed skirts as part of their Spring/Summer 2014 collection MER KA BA.

However, the three spring and summer collections of threeASFOUR's recent appearances have been given special significance because of the tenth anniversary of the brand's founding. The threeASFOUR called it "a large retrospective series that reconstructs elements from its past designs." It is reported that the three designers were assisted by architect Bradley Rothenburg in 3D modeling during the design process. These designs were done using several 3D modeling software, and the Materialise service was used in 3D printing. They also worked with Materialise when they designed MER KA BA. Designers are now more adept at mastering and using 3D printing technology. According to Asfour, “We have doubled the proportion of 3D fabrics and their geometry has become more complicated.â€
This threeASFOUR collection includes a very sophisticated and beautiful 3D printed dress that combines 3D design and printing as the latest technology, as well as old, traditional tailoring methods. In designing this dress, the three designers wanted to fully incorporate the 3D printed portion of the dress into its design, making it part of the pattern. Asfour added: "In addition, we want to create an asymmetrical sense of flow for this piece, considering that we use up to six different 3D printed patterns, which is enough to make your eyes lost."
