As a soldier, you should take good care of your tools and weapons so that they can play their greatest role when needed. Especially the knife, keep it sharp. In the predicament of survival, the knife is one of the most useful tools.

Imagine living in a difficult situation except for a knife without any other weapon! This is very likely to happen! Not even a knife. So you must learn how to make tools and weapons temporarily.

The main purpose of weapons is hunting. A field emergency weapon can not only help you defeat the enemy, but also expand your defense range, but also give you a sense of security.

Sticks

There are three main types of sticks.

Simple sticks. It is a simple stick or branch that cannot be too long, otherwise it is not easy to swing, but it cannot be too short. It must be long enough and strong enough to damage the other party.

Increase sticks. Adding a stick is to add weight to one end of a simple stick. It can be a natural weight, such as a section of wood, or it can be artificially added, such as a stone. Then you need some ropes for binding (see page 25).

Here's how to increase sticks -

● To find a stone, the shape must fit firmly on the stick, and the hourglass-shaped stone works well.

● Find a piece of wood of moderate length. It is best if straight hardwood is found.

● Bundle stones on wood.

There are three techniques for tying stones to sticks: splitting, using tree rakes, and coiling. Which technique is used depends on the type of stick (see Figure 4-1).

Throwing sticks. The throwing stick is another kind of weighting bar, but the added weight hangs on the stick (see Figure 4-2). The throwing sticks are much stronger than others.

You can also put some sand or stones into the socks. This is also a way to throw a stone stick, but the stone thrower you make can only be used once.

Blade

In Chapter 2, you already know that survival kits must contain portable folding knives, but you may also need another type of knives. You can use wood, bone, stone, or metal as a knife or spearhead.

The following are the steps to make a wooden knife -

● Find a piece of hardwood about 12 inches (30 cm) long and about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter.

● Take hardwoods 6 inches (15 centimeters) long and cut them into sharp edges. The edge should be slightly offset from the center of the wood so that you can avoid the pith (the pith is a soft part of the wood. Use it to make the edge very weak).

• If there is a fire, put the blade on the fire and bake it until it is slightly scorched (the more dry the wood, the harder the blade).

● Sharpen the blade with a grindstone.

You can also use bamboo instead of hardwood to make a knife, but when you are grinding, you just need to rub off the part inside the bamboo and leave the outside part because the outside of the bamboo is very hard, and the harder the blade is, the better, when you bake it. It is also only necessary to bake the interior.

Using a bone to make a knife requires finding a suitable bone, such as the leg bone of a deer or similar animal, a hard surface and a heavy object to break the bone, a wood for the handle, and tying material. The steps are as follows: (Serial)

To use a stone to make a knife, you need a piece of sharp-edged stone, chisel, and planing tool (the blade of the chisel has a bit blunt to remove small stones, and the head of the planing tool is pointed to make thin, flat pieces).
